transition a summer outfit to winter wear

On this hot day, I ventured out with my lovely photographer boyfriend to a local historical mansion in the area. It was such a cute place! The mansion and the gardens surrounding the area were beautiful. We could tell that the workers took care of the place. I really wanted to explore the mansion and not just the outside, but they weren't offering any walking tours at the time. I know for sure that I'll be back here sometime soon!

So, what I really like about this outfit is how seasonally versatile it is. Although this look does appeal more to summer weather, it can easily be turned into a cold weather outfit.

How to tackle the cold with a summer outfit?

Switch it up! Throw on a black, leather jacket with some black, suspender tights. You can even add a beanie/bowler/fedora hat and some leather, gloves to make the outfit even more cold ready. Overall, with a look like this, you're bound to keep warm.

I know... I'm a repeater. I repeat pieces from past posts, but I can't help it. They're all my favorites! Hopefully all these repeated clothing items can give you guys ideas how to refresh your outfits in different ways. For example, I always thought I could only wear the muscle tee (pictured above) with just jeans. Turns out it can be worn in different ways. Not only did I match it up with a patterned, feminine skater skirt (which lessened at grunge-ness the shirt gave off to the outfit), but I made the shirt form-fitted. The shirt is actually huge on me, so to make it smaller, I just tied the shirt in the front.

How do you guys change up your outfits?

How To Wear A Beach Cover-Up As A Day/Night Dress

Summer is finally here! I've kicked off the season with the perfect dress. As you can see, the material isn't heavy at all, and it combats the hot weather. Let me tell you a little secret though... it's actually a bathing suit/bikini beach cover-up ;)

Mustard yellow, summer blue, sandy white... I thought these colors were way too pretty to just wear it as a cover up. So, I did a little experiment. I took the beach cover-up and decided to make it into a shift dress. The problem? It's a bit sheer. To rectify the see-through problem, I got a basic light brown tank top dress to go underneath.

Of course a yellow, blue, or white tank top dress could have worked, but I wanted to go for something that was neutral and would mesh with my skin tone. The results came out well!

I can now say what was once an inappropriate, transparent piece of clothing (that you could only wear with swim wear) has turned into an opaque, shift dress you could wear day and night. I've chosen to make the dress a day look with some gold/light brown and black accessories. I stole the loafers and handbag from my mom. She has great stuff in her closet!

It's amazing how something so simple can make something so great. This outfit is currently my favorite outfit to wear, and I don't care that I'm outfit repeating! It's so comfy and fashionable. I love it! And everyone who has seen me wear it has complimented me on how the dress looks great without even knowing what it truly is. I hope to do more fashion experiments with the clothes I have. Whatever I come up with, I'll be sure to share them with all of you =)

Have you guys ever done fashionable experiments with your clothes? If so, what did you do? I'd love to try them.

Have a great week!
