Look #1

My friend Maggie was visiting from New York so I took her to this little hipster area near where I live. The restaurant we went to served pancakes with bacon in them. Pretty cool, huh? Too bad they ran out of bacon.

They also had this cool awesome mural on the window that I had to get a picture of. I love how the colors pop up and the aztec lookin' bird, which you can only see half of.

Urban Outfitters satchel (similar here), Cotton On bow belt (similar here), Forever 21 faux leather jacket (similar here),
Gap colored jeans, Uniqlo plaid shirt, Urban Outfitters bowler hat, BCBG wedges via DSW.

I've had these clothes for the longest time. That's why I only have similar here links or no links at all (couldn't find anything that was similar to them... or these items can be found easily elsewhere). Anyways…

The jeans are a bit baggy right at the knee and the upper thighs. Also they are a bit long near the ankles. If anything, I'm going to have to hem them eventually and even do a bit of sewing to make the jeans not look as baggy.

I thought that if I tucked in the shirt, it wouldn't blouse out. It did just that though, and I couldn't minimize the extra material. I could have used a safety pin to scrunch up the material at the back and also tucked in the shirt, but I didn't come to my mind at the time. I don't even know if that would have worked. Anyways, the shirt can definitely use some tailoring… actually, my whole wardrobe could use some tailoring.

I need to become my own tailor.

Outfit picture number one for the month of January? Checked!

New Things Coming Your Way

Hey everyone! Happy late happy new year. To begin, I want to say what my new years resolution is: other than consistently updating this blog, I am going to upload a minimum of 5 outfit looks per month. I know that is probably not a lot of looks, but I wanted to set a goal that I knew I could achieve realistically. I knew if I did more than 5, I'd be too lazy and feel unaccomplished... So 5 it is!

Since this blog represents my style journey, I'm gonna post entries (other than the other variety of content I plan on adding here) that not only gives advice to you, but also gives advice to me. There were (and still are) so many times where I have researched styles and fashion things and ended up forgetting them later on.

On the flip side, I know what it feels like to look in the mirror and wish there was a style guru that could tell me if what I was wearing works or not and why. For example: skinny jeans don't look good on petites because the length makes the petite person appear stumpy (of course there are exceptions). I'm definitely not saying I'm a style guru, but I will be the guinea pig and experiment. Things will look bad and things will look good on me, but it'll save you readers from doing the bad experiments yourself and learning from my mistakes.

Also, fashion is all about having no rules so don't feel like you are confined in what is researched. They aren't rules, but simply style suggestions for you and for me.
So, If you really want to wear those mint skinny jeans, do it! (I'm also referring to myself because I have a lovely pair in my closet that I adore).

Most of my research will be along these lines since they are my characteristics:
I'm petite (5'2") with a round face and a slight hour glass shape.

Sorry for the lengthy and wordy entry, but I felt like I needed some type of introduction to this blog and this year haha.

With that said...

Let's begin!
